Mutoview Portable and Wi-Fi

You can download and upload media very easily and at fast speeds using a J2ME device which supports Wi-Fi.

Mutoview Portable works with your Wi-Fi connection - all you have to do is select it when prompted. For example with the Nokia N80 you have the option of choosing a pre-defined Wi-Fi access point (which you can configure in 'Settings' on the phone) or to search for one when you need it. It's better to configure one on the phone if you are using an encrypted connection, otherwise you will keep having to enter the passcode everytime you load up Mutoview Portable.

It's much, much better than current 3G connections which suffer from high data costs and connection drops switching between 2G, 2.5G and 3G.

If you have a broadband connection at home then all you need to do is buy a wireless access point. You can get fully fledged routers that have a wireless connection or you can go for the cheaper but just as effective option of a USB Wi-Fi access point.

The access point used with the tested Nokia N80 was a SoftGate 802.11g USB adapter that is almost too simple to set-up.

Just click 'Auto Run' on the installation CD and install it. Then plug your antenna into a USB port and click on the 'Router' picture - see above.

You set the connection to be encrypted by clicking 'Assignment' > 'Encryption' then setting your password. You would then configure this access point in settings on your phone.

That's all there is to it - you now have a high speed Wi-Fi connection to download to your heart's content!
